In Canada, all pressure vessels designed to ASME Section VIII must be registered in the Province of installation.
ASME Section VIII-1 is the most common code of construction for pressure vessel designs in North America. It is recognized by all Canadian Jurisdictions and the National Board.
The design rules and formulas can be complex and confusing at times and without the proper help to navigate, you may encounter costly setbacks.
Design by analysis, ASME Section VIII-2, is used when you have more complex designs that do not conform to VIII-1 rules. VIII-2 is design based on analysis, such as FEA, where VIII-1 is based on code rules or formulas, which are clearly defined within the code book.
Pressure vessel, heat exchangers, autoclaves and more are all designed to VIII-1 or VIII-2.
